Where can i shop for big & tall clothes in North Atlanta?

Ok, so my boyfriends birthday is soon & I need to know where I can take him shopping. We live in the sandy springs/dunwoody/chamblee area of atlanta and since we are new here, I am lost! Lol. He’s a big guy & we will need to shop at some stores that cater to bigger black men. Thanks!!!

Casual Male is a great store for him. They are also located in many outlet malls too.

Clothes Drop

Clothes Drop

$7.94

Trying to please everyone, Shaggy knocks an excellent album down to just a very good one by overstuffing the otherwise inspired Clothes Drop with bland filler. An hour plus, the album contains 40 to 50 minutes of inspired Shaggy with the swashbuckling singer dividing his time between swaggering business as usual and surprisingly non-pop, non-slick numbers that are welcome reminders of how deep he can go. The polished boasting and bragging on the opening “Clothes Drop” is no big surprise, but the minimal and bubbly production from Sly & Robbie is fresh and exciting. The pace is kept up with some raw dancehall — the pounding “Broadway” with its brittle Barrington Levy sample is especially tasty — before things get much slicker. “Wild 2Nite” takes the singer into the perfect-fitting world of G-Unit with special guest Olivia, and “Supa Hypnotic” is the first of two stylish winners with the Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger, the saucy “Don’t Ask Her That” being the second. Up to this point, Clothes Drop juggles the crossover and the genuine well, but generic concessions to bedroom R&B and a empty collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am are forgettable and have no place on this otherwise excellent album. That two of the most heartfelt and poignant numbers from the artist close the album makes this all the worse, but you only have to do a little trimming to make Clothes Drop one of his best. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi Performers: Brian Gold – Vocals (Background); C. Duck Anderson – Vocals (Background); Heather Cummings – Vocals (Background); Rik Rok – Vocals (Background); Tony Gold – Vocals (Background); J. The Clothes On Their Backs

The Clothes On Their Backs

$10.99

Orange Prize winner and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2008, Linda Grant has created an enchanting portrait of a woman who, having endured unbearable loss, finds solace in the family secrets her estranged uncle reveals. In vivid and supple prose, Grant subtly constructs a powerful story of family, love, and the hold the past has on the present. Vivien Kovacs, a sensitive, bookish girl grows up sealed off from the world by her timid Hungarian refugee parents, who conceal the details of their history and shy away from any encounter with the outside world. She learns how to navigate British society from an eccentric cast of neighbors — including a fading ballerina, a cartoonist, and a sad woman who wanders the city and teaches Vivien to be beautiful. She loses herself in books and reinvents herself according to her favorite characters, but it is through clothes that she ultimately defines herself. Against her father’s wishes, she forges a relationship with her uncle, a notorious criminal and slum landlord, who, in his old age, wants to share his life story. As he exposes the truth about her family’s past Vivien learns how to be comfortable in her own skin and how to be alive in the world. Grant is a spectacularly humanizing writer whose morally complex characters explore the line between selfishness and self-preservation.

As he exposes the truth about her family’s past Vivien learns how to be comfortable in her own skin and how to be alive in the world. Grant is a spectacularly humanizing writer whose morally complex characters explore the line between selfishness and self-preservation.

Amarilly of Clothes-Line Alley

Amarilly of Clothes-Line Alley

$25.49

Coming as it did on the heels of what many consider to be Mary Pickford’s greatest triumph, Stella Maris (1918), this film seemed almost too lightweight in comparison. The situation — a poor girl’s introduction to High Society — was already old hat in 1918, but luckily, the star and her director, Marshall Neilan, made what could have been a poor imitation of Pygmalion into one of the best social satires of the era. Amarilly Jenkins is a beloved Lower East Side urchin by day and no-nonsense cigarette girl at the tough Cyclone Café — an establishment complete with prostitutes and leering Johns — by night. She is in love with bartender Terry (William Scott), but when society sculptor Gordon Phillips (the grandly mustachioed Norman Kerry) is beaten up in a brawl, Amarilly brings the young man home to her mother, an Irish laundrywoman (Kate Price). Gordon’s own mother, Mrs. Stuyvesant Phillips (Ida Waterman) of the Park Avenue Stuyvesant Phillipses, looks upon Amarilly as an interesting social experiment, inviting the girl to stay at their palatial home. The dowager, however, is alarmed when Gordon falls in love with Amarilly. To prove a point, Gordon’s mother invites Mrs. Jenkins to tea with the Phillips family, and Amarilly’s Irish immigrant mother doesn’t disappoint, entertaining the assembly by dancing an impromptu jig with the family butler. The haughty Mrs. Phillips might have avoided this spectacle had she only known that both Amarilly and Gordon had long ago realized that they were wrong for each other. Having wryly observed how the other half lived, Amarilly returns happily to her bartender in Clothes-Line Alley. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi

Choosing our clothes is a sensitive matter and far from superficial. John Harvey considers the overlapping values that clothes have for us. They both cover and advertise the bodies within them, helping to define us as the men and women we are. They enroll us in groups, from our own circle to our generation worldwide, and pick us out as individuals. Clothes, like their wearers, may compete in claiming power or the spotlight. They show how we think we matter – and they can matter themselves in ways that may be both intimate and crucial. Contemporary opinion is still divided on whether clothes are the most frivolous of consumer disposables or can take their place as art. Though we wear and see them every day, the value that they have for us is multiple and fugitive. Harvey attempts to sort out the many-coloured wardrobe that distinguishes humans from other creatures.

"No Clothes" is the story of Simon’s cross-town journey without clothes. Daniel Wood has captured that nine year old dread, nakedness. Simon’s carelessness caused his predicament, but we must admire his speed and courage in evading a gang of kids and his resourcefulness in creating newspaper clothes ("local coverage"). The tension is heightened as each adventure results in another call to the police. There is a nice feeling of apocalyptic vision…the conversation is good, the pace is quick, the conclusion satisfying. — "Canadian Materials"

“BEFORE THE BEGINNINGThis fascinating book takes a trip back to eternity past, showing the Godhead (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) in conference, discussing their future plan to create a brand new creature, called man. It then focuses in on a once high-ranking angel named Lucifer, at the very point when he decides to overthrow Almighty God, and how later, his destiny and mankind’s became intertwined.WHAT REALLY HAPPENED, IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN?Next, is on to the world-famous Garden of Eden, earth’s very real, original paradise setting. The Lord (Jesus) personally forms the first man Adam, and some while later creates a woman (Eve), and they become man and wife. Their story is the heart of the book, with a verse-by-verse, in-depth examination, of what really went on in the garden, that’s still impacting every single human being and living creature on planet earth, to this day.JESUS CAME TO EARTH, TO RESTORE WHAT ADAM LOSTIt’s interesting to hear people’s opinions on why they think Jesus came to earth. Many think He was one of a long-line of enlightened spiritual leaders, sent to show us how to live on a higher dimension or spiritual plane, of existence. Others think He was a very good man, who had wisdom to share with us, and a system of religious teachings from which the Christian religion came about. Then there are a large number of people who believe He was the Son of God, but they’re not real sure what all was involved with His being here, especially the part about Him being killed. Jesus became a man to reverse Adam’s curse, and to make it possible for everything to be restored, as it was in the beginning, so that mankind can rule and reign with Him, throughout eternity.”

Recounting how the West was won through the eyes of a white man raised as a Native American, Arthur Penn’s 1970 adaptation of Thomas Berger’s satirical novel was a comic yet stinging allegory about the bloody results of American imperialism. As a misguided 20th-century historian listens, 121-year-old Jack Crabb (Dustin Hoffman) narrates the story of being the only white survivor of Custer’s Last Stand. White orphan Crabb was adopted by the Cheyenne, renamed Little Big Man, and raised in the ways of the Human Beings by paternal mentor Old Lodge Skins (Chief Dan George), accepting non-conformity and living peacefully with nature. Violently thrust into the white world, Jack meets a righteous preacher (Thayer David) and his wife (Faye Dunaway), tries to be a gunfighter under the tutelage of Wild Bill Hickock (Jeff Corey), and gets married. Returned to the Cheyenne by chance, Jack prefers life as a Human Being. The carnage wreaked by the white man in the Washita massacre and the lethal fallout from the egomania of General George A. Custer (Richard Mulligan) at Little Big Horn, however, show Crabb the horrific implications of Old Lodge Skins’ sage observation, There is an endless supply of White Men, but there has always been a limited number of Human Beings. ~ Lucia Bozzola, Rovi Guide

Ed Stander (Robert Morse), with the help of an all-star cast, teaches Paul Manning (Walter Matthau) the fine art of philandering in A Guide for the Married Man. Paul, happily married to sexy Ruth (Inger Stevens), has no burning desire to cheat, but Ed makes the prospect sound very attractive. Finally taking the big step with a glamorous brunette after months of careful preparation, Paul finds that he loves his wife way too much to betray her — while the ever-careful Ed ends up in divorce court. Among the myriad of advisors peppered throughout Guide for the Married Man are Art Carney, Lucille Ball, Jack Benny, Jayne Mansfield, Terry-Thomas, and Carl Reiner. The best guest-star vignette features Joey Bishop as a man caught in bed with another woman by his wife — whereupon he calmly puts on his clothes, straightens up the room, and quietly responds to his wife’s outrage by saying What bed? What girl? Adapted by Frank Tarloff from his book of the same name, Guide for the Married Man was directed by Gene Kelly, who makes a cameo appearance of his own as a voice on a TV set. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Big Man on Campus

Big Man on Campus

$12.99

An eye-opening and at times controversial insider’s look at the current state of higher education in America, from one of the nation’s most distinguished and down-to-earth university presidents. At a time when daily news headlines scream of competitive college enrollments, skyrocketing tuition, campus violence, alcohol and drug abuse, and other campus scandals, the former president of The George Washington University tells it like it really is. Educated at Columbia, Yale, and Harvard universities, with a membership in Phi Beta Kappa, more than fifteen honorary doctorates, four books, and numerous published articles, Stephen Joel Trachtenberg is one of the leading voices in American higher education. Here he brings his thirty years of experience, wisdom, and wit to reveal what goes on behind the scenes in the difficult and rewarding challenge of running a university. Using wonderful anecdotes from his own life, Trachtenberg explains with compassion and his trademark humor the insight he has gained from the halls of learning. For parents who will write big checks to send their sons and daughters to college, for businesspeople of all kinds looking for leadership lessons, and for anyone invested in America’s system of higher education, this book is a major work about the importance of sustaining our nation’s natural brain trust.

Big Man Big Guitar: Popa Chubby Live

Big Man Big Guitar: Popa Chubby Live

$13.58

It’s not obvious from listening to it, but Popa Chubby’s Big Man Big Guitar is a compilation of two live albums that were previously only available in Europe: Live at FIP and Wild. The CD is the sister title to a DVD, too, and while the release may show every sign of being a souvenir of the video, or a thrown-together hodgepodge, it isn’t at all. Chubby’s known for his blistering live sets, but this collection takes a risk by having a gradual dramatic arc, starting slowly with a slinky version of “Hey Joe” and working its way up to the frenzied “Keep on the Sunny Side” and “Time Is Killing Me” (consider the solo performance of “How’d a White Boy Get the Blues,” a gutsy encore). What’s fascinating for returning Chubby fans is that these shows come from 2001 and 2002, and the bitter political muse summoned for 2004′s Peace, Love and Respect was not a major factor yet. You can hear the beginnings of it here on his moving and sincere post-9/11 song “Somebody Let the Devil Out,” but the rest of the album is old-school Chubby, ambitious in a different direction and mad at the proverbial “man,” not a particular (presidential) man. The slow-burn start is frustrating on first listen, but once you realize the much more exciting second half wouldn’t have the punch it has without the buildup, you’ll consider Big Man Big Guitar a well-built album instead of the usual contractual obligation/quick-buck throwaway. The surprising, beer-stained version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” almost puts the album on Chubby’s “A” list, but some of the man’s key tracks are missing and, despite the great flow, he really needs two CDs to fully represent his sprawling live show. It hedges its bets by keeping it to one, but Big Man Big Guitar chalks up another success in a discography that has more than its fair share. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi Performers: Galea – Guitar (Bass), Vocals; Kris Jefferson – Guitar (Bass), Bass; Larry Crockett – Drums; Mike Lattrell – Vocals (Background), Keyboards; Nicholas D’Amato – Guitar (Bass), Bass; Popa Chubby – Guitar, Vocals; Steve Holley – Drums; Vincent Daune – Drums; Vincent Duane – Drums

The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man

The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man

$14.48

"Of all the grifters, the confidence man is the aristocrat, " wrote David Maurer, a proposition he definitively proved in The Big Con, one of the most colorful, well-researched, and entertaining works of criminology, ever written. A professor of linguistics who specialized in underworld argot. Maurer won the trust of hundreds of swindlers who let him in on not simply their language, but their folkways and the astonishingly complex and elaborate schemes whereby unsuspecting marks, hooked by their own greed and dishonesty, were "taken off" — i.e., cheated — of thousands upon thousands of dollars. The products of amazing ingenuity, crack timing, and attention to every last detail, these "big cons" richly deserve Maurer’s description as "the most effective swindling device which man has ever invented." The Big Con is a treasure trove of American lingo (the write, the rag, the payoff, ropers, shills, the cold poke, the convincer, to put on the send) and indelible characters (Yellow Kid Weil, Barney the Patch, the Seldom Seen Kid, Limehouse Chappie, Larry the Lug). It served as a source for the Oscar-winning film The Sting and will delight fans of such writers as David Mamet, Jim Thompson, Elmore Leonard, and William Burroughs for its droll, utterly authoritative look at the timeless pursuit of relieving one’s fellow man of his surplus cash.

The Emperor's New Clothes [30th Anniversary Edition]

The Emperor’s New Clothes [30th Anniversary Edition]

$6.76

Who better to narrate this Rankin-Bass Animagic version of The Emperor’s New Clothes than Danny Kaye, who starred as celebrated Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen in the 1952 musical film of the same name? Taking more than a few delightful liberties with Andersen’s original tale, this version is all about the pompous, self-impressed Emperor Klockenlocher, whose vanity proves his undoing when he is hoodwinked by a pair of con artists into spending a million dollars on a new wardrobe spun from “invisible cloth.” Cyril Ritchard, best remembered as Captain Hook in Mary Martin’s adaptation of Peter Pan, provides the voice of the Emperor, with TV legend Imogene Coca voicing the role of the Emperor’s daughter, Princess Jane. The usual Rankin-Bass creative team is well in attendance, including artist Paul Coker Jr., who provided the character design, and Maury Laws, who penned the wonderful musical numbers “Come Along With Me,” “Creation,” “The Tailor’s Song,” “Clothes Make the Man,” and “I See What I Want to See.” Enhanced with a handful of live-action sequences filmed on location in Denmark, The Emperor’s New Clothes debuted as an ABC network special on February 21, 1972. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Although founders Little Charlie Baty and harpist/singer/songwriter Rick Estrin welcome two new cats on bass and drums, little else has changed on Little Charlie & the Nightcats’ eighth studio effort, again on Alligator, the only label they have recorded for. While that could be a problem for some outfits, the music here is so perfectly conceived, well-written, and performed with cracking musicianship that only the grouchiest blues purist will complain they aren’t breaking much new ground. Estrin’s slimy, woman-distrusting, often comical delivery on his compositions — such as “Desperate Man,” “Livin’ Good,” and a duet with the equally non-PC West Coast singer/harp player James Harman trading quips on the title track — make for a lighthearted listening experience. But clearly these guys can also play; Baty and guest guitarist Rusty Zinn’s dueling hollow-body guitars on “Bluto’s Back” and Estrin’s chromatic harp solo on “Coastin’ Hank” (two of the disc’s three instrumentals) prove that the group’s chops are as finely tuned as their ability to cut up and add a dose of levity to the usually ultra-serious blues. The occasional use of horns on four tracks injects a jazzy R&B sensibility to the proceedings and fills out the sound. Zinn’s vocal on “It Better Get Better” also takes the focus off Estrin, whose schtick starts to wear thin by the 12th track — the album’s lone cover — a version of “Steady Rollin’ Man,” credited to Sonny Boy Williamson ll, who wrote these particular lyrics, not Robert Johnson. The group’s roots in Louis Jordan’s swinging jump blues are showcased in “Money Must Think I’m Dead” and even new drummer Joey Ventittelli gets a songwriting credit on the Chicago blues of the album’s kickoff track, “Real Love,” which features some lip-shredding, overdriven, electrified harp from Estrin. Established fans will rejoice in this exceptional release that treads water in all the right ways, and newcomers can start here to appreciate Little Charlie & the Nightcats’ charming, unorthodox yet dedicated approach to the blues. ~ Hal Horowitz, Rovi Performers: Frankie Randall – Bass (Electric), Bass (Acoustic); John Firmin – Tenor (Vocal); Rick Estrin – Harmonica, Vocals; Rob Sudduth – Baritone (Vocal), Saxophone; “Icepick James” Harman – Vocals; Chris Siebert – Piano; Little Charlie Baty – Guitar; Rusty Zinn

Used – One day, after the leaves had turned red and brown and the mornings grown chilly, a crowd of people, strangers to him, arrived at Oak Knob. Then out of the house with Thompson came a big man in tweed clothes, and the two walked straight to the curious young dogs, who were watching them with shining eyes and wagging tails.

The Very Best of Lonnie Johnson

The Very Best of Lonnie Johnson

$15.98

With an elegant guitar style that helped bridge country blues and the more modern urban R&B sound while at the same time keeping a dialogue going between jazz and the blues, Lonnie Johnson was one of the most important guitarists of his generation. He recorded hundreds of sides for OKeh, Decca, and Bluebird between 1925 and 1945, and participated in scores more as a session man for the likes of Duke Ellington and others. By the mid-’40s he had switched from acoustic to electric guitar and had signed with Cincinnati’s King Records, recording several successful ballads for the label between 1947 and 1950, the period covered by this anthology. He never completely abandoned the blues, however, and while some of his King ballads are included here (like his big 1948 R&B hit “Tomorrow Night”), a good portion of these tracks are country blues standards posing in uptown clothes. Prime examples include the solo “Backwater Blues” and the Appalachian blues classic “Little Rockin’ Chair,” both of which have long lineages, and his cover of the Delmore Brothers’ “Trouble Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” which doesn’t have a long history as a song, but in Johnson’s hands it sounds like it could have. Johnson left King in 1950, recording a few sides for Rama Records before the changing tastes of record buyers made his style seem obsolete, and he left the recording business in 1954, moving to Philadelphia, where he supported himself doing custodial work until the folk-blues revival of the 1960s brought him out of musical retirement. As a guitarist, Johnson’s most important work will always be his early acoustic sides (Columbia’s Steppin’ On the Blues is a good set in that regard, as is Snapper’s Playing With the Strings), although as a singer — and he was a very good vocalist, with a rough-edged yet easy elegance — his time with King, when he began to concentrate more on ballads, may well be his finest hour. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
